Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl stats, record: Turnovers have plagued Chiefs QB on NFL’s biggest stage
Patrick Mahomes is already an NFL king at 27. The Chiefs quarterback is on his way to his third Super Bowl in five seasons as a starter, and he’s just one of 12 quarterbacks in league history with at least 10 playoff wins.
Mahomes consistently delivers in January, but what about February? He’s accomplished more at such a young age than most quarterbacks can dream of, but his Super Bowl history lacks a dominant performance.
While Mahomes’ playoff numbers are as impressive as his regular season numbers, his two worst playoff performances by passer rating both came in the Super Bowl.

As Mahomes prepares to face the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 and win a second championship, here are his stats from his last two trips to the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl 54: Chiefs 31, 49ers 20
Mahomes emerged from his first Super Bowl with a championship and a Super Bowl MVP award. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. Those who watched the game know it wasn’t easy.
Mahomes finished 26 for 42 for 286 yards, three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and two interceptions in the win, but he struggled with turnover issues before leading a comeback in the fourth quarter.
Mahomes threw a right pass to 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, leaving the Chiefs 13-10 behind, and his fourth-quarter interception with KC trailing 20-10 nearly buried his team. Tyreek Hill should have gotten the ball, but the pass was behind him too.
Mahomes found higher gear after that, leading the Chiefs to 21 points in less than a quarter, perfectly encapsulating Kansas City’s explosive ability on offense. The effort was enough to earn Mahomes a Super Bowl MVP award.

Super Bowl 55: Buccaneers 31, Chiefs 9
Super Bowl 55 was a whole different story for Mahomes.
He finished 26 for 49 for 270 yards and two interceptions, not throwing a touchdown pass in a playoff game for the first time since his playoff debut.

Mahomes wasn’t solely to blame for the loss. His offensive line, which had lost to Eric Fisher two weeks earlier, struggled mightily against Tampa Bay’s front seven, forcing Mahomes to make frequent desperate throws and climbs.
Still, it was a performance he would gladly forget. Mahomes expects to have much better protection in Super Bowl 57 after the unit’s overhaul in 2021.

Mahomes’ interceptions will be the storyline on Super Bowl Sunday. He probably can’t afford another turnover day against a loaded Eagles team that forced 27 turnovers in the regular season, ranking fourth in the NFL.
Mahomes has thrown just one interception in his last six starts of the regular season.
