There will be four episodes of Stanley Tucci: In Search of Italy. This season Tucci will visit Puglia, Sardinia, Genoa and Liguria and Calabria. Tucci has already given hints as to what these episodes might entail. He previously shared a photo of orecchiette with broccoli and anchovies, the pasta specialty from Puglia, on his Instagram. In Cagliari, Sardinia, he shared a photo in front of Trattoria Lillicu. Tucci was also spotted filming in Genoa, where he enjoyed a dish of gnocchi with clams and pesto. Pesto is a traditional sauce from the region. However, Calabria becomes his most personal episode. Tucci has Calabrian roots and mentions them throughout the show. He even stayed there briefly to catch a ferry from there to Sicily in an earlier episode. This episode will finally allow him to share the joys of his ancestral homeland with the world. While Calabrian cuisine includes many traditional Italian dishes, traces of French, Spanish and Arabic cuisine due to past invasions make it a unique region.

Some of the quirkiest and tastiest moments also happened in Lombardy, home of one of the world’s most expensive cheeses, and in Tuscany, where holes in the walls of buildings known as “Little Doors of Paradise” connect bars with al fresco passers-by . This mix of food, history and contemporary culture has made this show a hit and will surely continue in Tucci’s new destinations.
