When playing Salmon Run Next Wave, the run usually ends after three waves of enemies. However, sometimes you will get an Xtrawave in which a King Salmon will appear. It’s subtle, but there’s actually a way to tell when a King Salmon will next spawn.
When you go into a Salmon Run lobby, you can see that there is a bar in the shape of King Salmonid Cohozuna below your rank and EXP. This is filled out by playing multiple sessions in a row with the same team. If you play with friends, this counter will increase faster without worrying about players disconnecting or quitting.
After spawning a King Salmon, it’s time for a limited time battle where you have to deal as much damage as possible to the giant boss.
How to get Bronze, Silver, and Gold Fish Scales
Fish scales will fall when you damage the King Salmon. The more damage you deal to the boss during the time limit, the more scales you earn. It’s as simple as that. However, be aware that most of what you’ll see first is a lot of bronze and the rare silver.
Drops are determined by the hazard level, which is the sum of the ranks of all participants. This increases the payout and difficulty for regular Salmon Runs, but it also increases your chances of getting Silver and – especially – Gold Scales when fighting the King Salmon. You probably won’t see gold scales until you’ve leveled up significantly.
