Swastika-sporting MMA thug who doused wife in petrol and threatened to burn her gets JUST 3 years in prison
BUNBURY, WESTERN AUSTRALIA: A mixed martial artist will serve just three years in prison after threatening to burn his wife alive while his children were at home. The incident happened last year when the cage fighter, who made headlines for sporting a giant swastika tattoo on his chest, doused his wife in petrol when she refused to go to bed when he asked her to.

The incident took place on October 26, 2021, when John Matthew Darch was in the process of setting his wife on fire, possibly killing his children, ages one and three. The Western Australian reports that the former couple were outside their house drinking by the fire when Darch ordered his other half to go to bed, a request she refused. Darch continued to kick her in the knee, then slapped and slapped her as she lay on the ground. The MMA fighter poured about five liters of gasoline from a canister over his wife, who was lying a few meters from the fire. Neighbors heard him yell “piece of s**t” and “crappy mother” at her wife. Even as Brooke rushed into the house where the children were, Darch followed her.

John Matthew Darch will only serve 3 years
Bunbury District Court in Western Australia said Darch would serve three years in prison for taking action against his wife Brooke, who divorced him after a domestic violence injunction was granted. Darch’s two-year and 10-month sentence has been backdated to October 27 last year, allowing him to be paroled next year. Prosecutor Michael Perrell argued that Brooke was placed in significant danger, while the defense argued that Darch was taking mind-altering drugs for mental health issues. However, this argument did not fly in court.

Judge David MacLean said in sentencing Darch: “Your selfishness and anger towards your former partner have destroyed your family. Although you have not been charged with crimes against your children…the opportunity has been taken during these very important years of a meaningful relationship with you. You don’t have to be a doctor to understand that you don’t mix the psychiatric drugs with alcohol and you certainly don’t get intoxicated. It shows a reckless disregard for the combination of these two dangerous substances, even though it’s mandated. It’s not a toy. It’s not a treat. It’s something that’s dangerous if not taken properly.”
