The 2023 Hollywoodbets Durban July Will Be Out Of This World!
The theme for the Hollywoodbets Durban July 2023, to be held at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on Saturday 1st July 2023, has been proudly unveiled by Gold Circle and Hollywoodbets.
The “Out of this World” theme for the 2023 event, published as a poem each year, hints at the stargates that transport one to a mysterious world far beyond our imagination. Africa’s largest horse racing event features an outstanding line-up of top horses, a star-studded cast of players, celebrities and designers, coupled with entertainment and hospitality on a cosmic scale.
Each year, the theme poem is announced to students from fashion design colleges and technikons across KwaZulu-Natal as part of their curriculum and as inspiration for their entries who are shortlisted to enter the Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Awards, which are hosted by the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF).
The top 10 students from across KwaZulu-Natal will be shortlisted from an initial pool of 110 entries and given the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their ‘Out Of This World’ designs alongside the DFF Rising Stars and the invited designers. This will take place in June at the HDJ Fashion Experience Preview Gala at Gateway. The Top 3 Young Designers will then be able to present their creations to the more than 50,000 enthusiastic fans at the Hollywoodbets Durban July 2023.
Although fashion is high on the race day agenda, Hollywoodbets Durban July is not just about fashion.

Last year’s event attracted over 230,000 television viewers, a 155% increase over the previous year, and more than 17,000 social media mentions.
