How to increase happiness
Knowing what’s making students unhappy and doing the opposite is a good way to keep their general spirits up, but that can be difficult to manage when you’re also trying to keep your university afloat while running smoothly. Here are the top four ways to increase student satisfaction.
Step 1: Make sure you have all the essential facilities. Students have a set of meters that all contribute to their happiness, such as energy, health, food, drink, toilet comfort, hygiene, and entertainment. The facilities you want to build to address these are:
- Dorms with a minimum of six beds in each room, with an approximate ratio of six beds per student.
- An equal number of showers and beds and at least one bathroom in each building.
- Grocery vendors, or at least vending machines. Food Vendors are much better at satisfying students’ hunger and thirst, are healthier, and can grant them temporary buffs, unlike Vending Machines.
- A medical office to treat sick students or heal injuries, and a chaplaincy office.
Step 2: Be sure to start student clubs and host entertainment events. Clubs grant students even more bonuses, but also help them avoid burnout and make friends. You can also build college dorms and student unions if you have the extra space and money. There are 10 different events you can run, and each one offers its own buffs, but they all improve happiness.
Step 3: Decorations not only add to the attractiveness of your university, but also prevent the students from feeling like they are in Two Point Prison. Add plenty of flair both inside and out to keep the mood going.
Step 4: Food should never be too far away. Students are notoriously hungry creatures, so make sure they’re never more than a few minutes from a food or beverage vendor to replenish their energy.
Step 5: Students get sick and injured. There’s no getting around this, so you’ll need to prepare yourself with a medical practice to get her back on her feet as soon as possible. Chaplaincy is equally important as mental health needs to be addressed as much as physical needs. Also like in real life, some students may not realize they need this service, but you can direct them to go there by selecting them one by one.
