When Arsenal will play Sporting CP in Europa League last-16 as fixture congestion confirmed
Arsenal meet Portuguese club Sporting CP in the Europa League round of 16 after Friday’s draw.
The Gunners meet Ruben Amorim’s side after beating Midtjylland in the knockout play-off round last night. Sporting were eliminated from the Champions League after finishing third in their group earlier in the season.
Arsenal qualified for the round of 16 as group winners after finishing ahead of PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and FC Zürich.

Mikel Arteta’s side could not have faced Manchester United in the Round of 16 as both sides come from the same association. If both Premier League sides progress to the quarter-finals, the Gunners could face Erik ten Hag’s side for the third time this season, having met them twice in the Premier League.

When are the ties played?
Arsenal meet Sporting next month. The first leg, to be played at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, takes place on Thursday 9 March.
The second leg in north London follows the following week (Thursday 16 March).
What is Arsenal’s fixture list?
The trip to Portugal takes place after Gunners hosts Bournemouth. Arsenal will travel to Fulham the following Sunday – between Europa League games – before welcoming Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium after the second leg.
When will the Europa League quarter-finals be drawn?
The draw for the next Europa League round will take place in Switzerland on Friday 17 March – the day after the second leg with Sporting CP.
