Stoneshard: How to Identify items
stone chips draws heavily on traditional hardcore RPG mechanics for many of its design principles. This strict adherence to tradition extends to the system for identifying magical items. Like many great modern CRPGs, potions, weapons, and armor of the magic variety are collected as “unidentified”. The player can only identify the properties of a magical enchantment through certain methods.
There are familiar rarity levels, enchantments are randomly generated, and some come with curses that offer powerful but Faustian benefits. However, it turns out that the identification of objects in stone chips maybe not even necessary.
How to identify magic items
Identifying a magic item is straightforward in Stoneshard. It is similar to identifying elements in Diablo 2: Risen. However, for now there is only one way to do this: identification roles. That could change as the developers bring this game closer to exiting Early Access. A Identify Spells or an NPC that can identify items are both typical features in a game of this genre. Your current absence in stone chips is noticeable.
The base cost of one identification role is 40 crowns. Players can purchase them from one of the following NPCs:
- Bert at his market stall in Osbrook.
- Josh at the chapel in Mannshire.
- Gerlot at his market stall in Mannshire.
After the player has received a identification role, they are ready to demystify the enchantment of an unidentified item. Players simply right click on the scroll and select it Use, and then select the item you want to use it for. The properties of the magical enchantment are shown in the tooltip. Players interested in identifying all of their gear with a single scroll can do so by saving the game and returning to their save after each use.
If the player doesn’t like the enchantment, it can be rerolled with a enchantment scroll.
Use of Unidentified Items
It’s not really necessary to identify items to make their impact. Drinking an unidentified potion will cause the effect to be achieved. Unidentified weapons and armor can be equipped and have their correct stats, although their item description doesn’t say anything.
However, with a little research, it is possible to see the effects of an enchantment without having to identify it. In the character window, the long list of stats changes as items are equipped. Players can find out an enchantment’s properties simply by narrowing down what stats change when they equip the enchanted gear.
Cursed Items
Magical enchantments are all fun and games, until someone gets cursed. Be careful: some enchanted items are cursed with seriously harmful effects. For all curses, if the player equips the cursed item, it cannot be unequipped until the curse is removed. Curses can be canceled with a Scroll of Disenchantment on the article. However, Scrolls of Disenchantment Also remove the enchantment on the item. It is also possible to use one enchantment scroll to reroll the enchantment. magic off spell scrolls never show up as curses.
stone chips is now available in Early Access on PC.
